Mom contacted Kim this morning (2:00 France time) regarding the possibility of using text messages to communicate (I'm still working on that one!). She had already been to a couple small villages where the shops were closed yesterday when she drove through and was on her way back up the mountain to a 12C church where the Knights Templar were based so she was glad to have watched the Da Vinci Code prior to her holiday. The place is called Comps-Sur Artuby if anyone is checking her journey on the map. There are some French drivers who pass on hairpin curves but she has managed to stay out of their way!
She also mentioned that she had some trouble getting the key to unlock the door at her chateau. After trying for a long time she stopped her attempt to "break in" and went to find Dini, the chief-in-charge of the chateau.
She drove to a local restaurant and asked "Ou est Dini?" Kim was directed to Dini's home: lace curtains on the windows and pretty! (We assume he lives with his mother!!!)
Dini was there and does not speak English but he and Kim conversed in French and so he was able to fix her key dilemma by leaving the "middle door" unlocked for the night. Kim can lock her own door so she is quite safe and we will all sleep well knowing that!
Today she hiked 8kms. and ate her lunch overlooking a beautiful scene at 800m. She also shopped for more food for tomorrow and is quite content in her home away from home.
