A little while later....

Kim's computer is still not working for sending or receiving messages (she CAN play Free Cell though!) We spoke with her this morning and she had already been on some roads up to the snow-capped mountains: hairpin turns, sheer cliffs, narrow roads etc. But she says the driving is so much easier than what she did in parts of Britain: at least in France, she's on the "right" side of the road with a car that has its steering wheel on the "right" side too! Even the "roundabouts" are so much simpler than the many she navigated in Britain.

Today she did some hiking (4.6 Km.) in the mountains near Gorge du Verdon, found a 12th C chapel in Moustiers Ste. Marie and spent time taking pictures and enjoying the magnificent scenery: turquoise-coloured lakes, tiny hamlets with pastel-coloured homes, terracotta-tiled roofs and flowers everywhere.

Kim is staying in a chateau in Saint Laurent du Verdon for the next 2 weeks and will use the chateau as a "home base" as she travels to other areas in the south of France. It was market day today in Aups and she had a wonderful time soaking up the culture in 18 degree weather as she bought some food and enjoyed all the items for sale. She is finding no problems with communicating in French and has no difficulty understanding the shop keepers and they understand her! So she's quite happy in this new world she is in!

While at the market today, she came across two men: "two men with 25 earrings and SIX teeth between them". So she thinks she'll continue to look elsewhere for her Prince Charming!!!

She doubts she will have access to the Internet until she leaves this part of France and she is unable to get her own laptop to work. So the occasional phone call to Canada will be the only way she will be in touch with family. Bev will update her blog from SSM and Kim will continue to take pictures to add to the several hundred she already has downloaded to her collection!
